Cheshire Homes Awards 2015

Cheshire Homes Chandigarh invites entries for its annual Awards 2015 
 
Nominations are invited for the 3rd Cheshire Homes Awards 2015 to recognise the contribution of the physically challenged individuals, and organisations working for their upliftment. 

Last Date for Nomination is 15th March.

Various Award Categories are :

Individual (Abled/Differently-abled) working for the cause
of differently abled persons.
Differently-abled Person who has Excelled in one’s chosen
field at national / international level.
Non-Government Organisation working for the Differently-
abled persons.
Corporate or NGO providing skills to the Differently-abled
persons.
Best Employer Award for providing Employment/Financial Support to Differently-abled persons

Activities Update

For past few months, we had some glitch in assessing our blog and uploading the reports of activities.  Though our President Gurdip S. Deep had been in touch with the members through email, and had tremendous cooperation from all the members in organising various programmes.  

Some of the major activities that we had in the last few months included Independence Day celebration last year and observation of World Disabled Day in December. 

Earlier this year we had flag hoisting by the inmates on the Republic Day.  And now we are getting ready for our annual grand feature, Cheshire Homes Chandigarh Annual Awards 2015.  This has been scheduled for 5th March at Bal Bhavan in Sector 23, Chandigarh, at 11:30am.

Republic Day Celebration

Cheshire Homes, Chandigarh celebrated Republic Day on 26th Jan.  The flag was unfurled by Maj. Gen. A.S. Kahlon (Retd.)   Chairman Emeritus, Cheshire Home, Chandigarh at 12:00 noon.
All residents of Cheshire Home, neighbours, members of Rotary Club of Chandigarh Midtown and Inner Wheel Club of Chandigarh Midtown joined enthusiastically.
The members were led by their Presidents Mr.R.T.P.S. Tulsi and Mrs.Uma Gupt respectively. There were nearly 60-65 persons. who attended the joyful ceremony.
Flag hoisting was followed by a cultural programme compered by Dr. Anurag Sharma.
The singers were Mrs. Shashi Gupta, Mrs. Patinder Baksh Singh. Mrs. Manju, Dr.   Hemant, Mr.  Ashwin Kumar  and Dr.  Anurag Sharma.
The singers were honoured by the Chief Guest. Vote of  thanks was given by Ashwin Kumar, a resident of Cheshire Home.
Sumptuous tea was organised  by Inner wheel Club on the occasion for all.
Our gratitude to residents of Cheshire Home, neighbours, members of Inner Wheel Club, and Rotary Club. One Rotary member inspired by programme donated Rs.3,100 for residents on the spot. The Deputy Mayor, MCC brought boxes of sweets.

World Disabled Day
Thanks to the help of State Bank of India (financial sponsor), Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of
Chandigarh Midtown who have helped us in our efforts to organise the World Disabled Day.
Dr. S.S. Gill, former Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid Medical University and Mr. Madhukar Anand
Regional Manager, State Bank of India, were the Guests of Honour.

Medical camp 
10 Medical Doctors of different specialities  like Eyes, ENT, Dental, Skin, Orthopaedics and General physician examined 150 disabled persons. Medicines and Tonics were given to all persons examined on the day.

Aides and Appliances
The following items of Aids/Appliances were given to various disabled and poor persons.
–     Four  CP Chairs
–    One   Wheel Chair
–    One   Tricycle
–    Five   Sewing Machine
–    Two   Bicycles
–    One   Hearing Aid
–    Below knee compression stocking
–    One   Walking Stick
Further, one Wheel Chair, one Tricycle and one hearing aid was promised for early giving.
Nearly 200 persons, Disabled and their attendants, were served lunch on the occasion.
