New Governing Council of Cheshire Homes Chandigarh elected

Cheshire Homes Chandigarh re-elected Gurdip S. Deep as its Chairman for 2014-16, with Raminder Kaur Panag as Vice Chairman, Maniki Deep as General Secretary and Mukesh Kumar Gupta as Treasurer. 

Other members of the Governing Council include Maj Gen (retd) Hardev Singh, Shaju Peter, Neena Singh, C.J. Singh, and Rama Gupta, with Maj Gen (retd) A.S. Kahlon, Chairman Emeritus as the ex-officio member.

Cheshire Homes, setup in November 2002 with the support of the Department of Social Welfare of Chandigarh Administration, houses 17 physically challenged inmates who are provided with all amenities and vocational training to become self-supporting, he informed.

Cheshire Homes had instituted Awards in 2013 for the individuals and organizations working for the physically challenged and had been supporting a number of them as a part of its outreach activities by holding medical checkup camps, and providing aids and appliances.

During 2013-14, nearly three dozen tricycles, wheel chairs, and bicycles, besides  innumerable prosthetic aids and railway concession passes were provided to the physically challenged.
